Fonocast #1: First Things First

Fonocast #1: First Things First
by Blanca Méndez & Andrea Hart

Firsts are always memorable. Whether it’s because they are exciting or terrifying or celebratory or overwhelming or whatever combination of emotions they evoke, firsts are landmarks in life that we often end up referring back to. You must remember your first day of school, your first kiss, your first car. These firsts may not be bests, but they are still special because they were first.

I’m excited to present the first episode of Fonocast, a monthly podcast in which I will put together themed playlists and discuss them with my good friend, Andrea Hart, a Chicago-area community and citizen journalist. Andrea and I have both worked with audio in some capacity, but this is our first real foray into podcasting, so be patient with us while we get the hang of this. The DIYness of it will be charming, right? In this episode we relive some of life’s firsts with music by Matias Aguayo, Un Mono Azul, and DJ Javier Estrada, among others. Special thanks to Antonio Gallardo for the theme song and to Poliedro for the artwork. You can stream the show and check the tracklist below.
