A Mexican Take Away Show

La Blogotheque shot a handful of episodes for their ‘A Take Away Show’ series in Mexico last year, needless to say La Blogotheque has rarely been as colorful. The French collective had unveiled individual songs from some of the bands; most notably that great take of “Light of Day” by The Plastics Revolution, joined by a Mariachi at Xochimilco. Apparently, they’ve now released all the episodes (except for the highly rumored Café Tacvba, which might be just that, a rumor). Whoever curated the series lineup forgot about Mexico’s most exciting bands (Maria y Jose, Bam Bam, Quiero Club) but overall, the bands pulled out some amazing performances. Here are our favorites.

Black XS & La Blogotheque Present The Plastics Revolution - "Light of Day" (First of Take Away Shows in Mexico)

A few weeks ago our Twitter Timeline was full of little hints from many Mexican bands celebrating the news of their selection for La Blogotheque’s “Black XS Live Sound Take Away Shows.” Among the bands selected are Chikita Violenta, Antoine Reverb, Carla Morrison, 60 Tigres, Natalia Lafourcade, Los Negretes, Mexican Institute of Sound, Lazaro Valiente among others. Some friends of ours tell us Café Tacvba did one too, but it’s kind of a secret. The Paris-based video collective by Vincent Moon has unveiled the first video to be shot in Mexico, featuring Mexico City-based sextet The Plastics Revolution, who we must confess, we had no idea of their existence (La Blogotheque’s magic). This band is definitely interesting, listening to the incredibly catchy “Light of Day” with that Mariachi in Xochimilco is a great way to win our hearts.

La Blogotheque Presents Fernando Milagros

Few artists can claim to be featured on the astounding Blogotheque, hundreds have found their way to do similar videos through inspired projects, but Chilean composer Fernando Milagros gets the real deal singing “Avenida Peru” in the latest episode of Les Concerts A Emporter. Actually, I can only think of one other Latin artist on La Blogotheque’s archive, and that’s El Guincho breaking his head with “Para Que Celebren Todos” at the Villette Sonique Festival in Paris. Fernando caught our attention recently as he made a cameo appearance in Gepe’s “Por La Ventana” video, reason enough to build our interest. This chapter was shot at Valparaiso by the amazing Vincent Moon capturing “songs built around a journey”, make sure to watch parts two and three here.
