We’re finding trouble to find any time to update this blog during this first week of school, so bare with us. For example, I missed this hot remix by María y José for “Chambacu”, a classic performed by hundreds of groups across Latin America. This is a remix for the version by Aurita Castillo y su Conjunto, brilliantly subtitled El Sagrado Corazón de María y José Refix. It’s some kind of encounter between Cumbia, Tamborazo and Reggaeton. By the way, there will be an upcoming release of “La Tierra Sagrada”, the Tijuana-based act is looking for brave souls to craft some remixes. You can download the rough material HERE.

Favorite New Alternative Mexican Acts: Los Macuanos, Maria y Jose & Los Amparito

Los Macuanos, Maria y Jose and Los Amparito have to be my favorite new alternative acts from Mexico, I'm loving this entrance into a naif fusion, very post Nortec-El Guincho-M.I.S.-Sr. Coconot, these three acts make our latest compilation Fonogramaticos Vol.3 very special. As far as I know, none of the acts have a label yet, nor have they released anything through a netlabel, but they're working on releasing their songs very soon. It's an exciting sound and they're building friendiship among the three and as we have seen before, that's the way to do it. The kind of stuff Mad Decent drools for. We didn't know much about Los Macuanos, so they're virtually new to us, but we're very familiar with the minds behind the other two projects. Maria y Jose is the second project of Unsexxy (Unsexy Nerd Ponies), and Los Amparito is the third project by pepepe, who explores similar grounds in his latest Poni Republic release Roba Orgon de Plantas y Animales. Make sure to download a mixtape Los Macuanos published through Brillo Monthly very recently, it's full of Cumbias!

Musica bonita para viernes desabrido: Children of the Moon. Unsexxy.

Two great happy songs for you today, the first one comes from Children of the Moon, an electro duo from Guadalajara that I’m digging a lot; is the project of Femmeboy and Iñigo, the former a quirky girl with a great voice, and the latter is a very cool DJ with several projects under his belt, one of them, Mutantek, previously featured on two of Club Fonograma’s Rocolas. They’re recording their first EP, there will be songs in Spanish!, that exclamation mark is necessary since we don’t get too much electro en Español, and just like that this becomes one of our most anticipated albums to hear in the upcoming months.

The second song is the Unsexxy caloron forever remix for Major Lazer’s “Hold the Line.” Unsexxy is Unsexy Nerd Ponies; I liked his Family Reunited a lot, and shared his badass track “Cave Cave Cave” in the Voy a Explotar Soundtrack. There are very few people I follow very close in terms of music taste is concern, and seriously his Tumblr Yo Te Amo has to be one of my favorite music corners, I make a daily visit, like it so much I’ve been thinking on inviting him to join the club. He doesn’t need to write anything to say so much, some people just got awesome taste like that.
