Natalia Lafourcade: Redefined.

Natalia Lafourcade is truly redefining her music; you have no idea how many times I’ve heard “Running Too Fast”, probably the best song she has written yet. It’s been up on her MySpace player for too long with no proper attention, but it was the most popular song from our previous set of songs for La Rocola. She is traveling around learning from a bunch of creative musical gurus; she just came back from the Red Bull Academy of Music (which is like the Berlin Cinematic Campus but for music) and is ready for her next journey, a new album that will hit stores on April. She announced last week that she would be giving away her instrumental album Las 4 Estaciones del Amor for free at her MySpace, and that seems to be the plan, but I can’t find the damn link to share it with you, it could be one of those limitations that block certain regions or maybe they forgot the new player’s download feature is now disabled. The EP had a very limited release in Mexico and was never given a proper release in the states or anywhere outside its home. I like this new Lafourcade, a lot more sober than with her fun but uncomfortable debut, more personal than with La Forquetina and a closer to her multi-task abilities as part of Julieta Venegas’ band. I include a video for a third track titled "Tiempo al Viento", a mesmerizing solo performance for the In-D's La Cantaleta. To my understanding none of these songs will be included on her new album. During finals week, don’t these songs relax you? I should be sharing "Invierno" considering this time of the year, but I like Autumn better.
