La Bien Querida

Along with Natalia Lafourcade’s Hu Hu Hu, Mexican Institute of Sound's Soy Sauce and Love of Lesbian’s 1999, La Bien Querida rounds up my four most anticipated albums right now. It’s such an extreme statement considering it will be her debut album, but this girl has shown so much lyrical depth and melodious craftsmanship that it’s almost impossible not to jump into her wagon of anxious music critics, bloggers and fellow musicians expecting her first release to see the light. So why the fuss? Back in 2007 she put up a couple of songs on her MySpace expecting nothing; it quickly became a popular name among indie sites in Spain, and had people like Sr. Chinarro and Los Planetas extremely impressed. A set of songs was filtered online titled “Maqueta”, her unfinished product has been around for way too long, Elefant Records will finally release her first production titled Romancero, and from what I’ve heard so far, it makes her maqueta sound like big joke, it will arrive in a couple of days, join the excitement. Get a taste of what appears to be her first single, “De Momento Abril” (from her demo) but know that it’s much different than what I’ve been hearing on my iPod, the production-values of the new finished songs are exquisite.
