MP3: Tecla de Oro - "Carnavalito"

Baltazar Solar Russ is behind Tecla de Oro, a really cool Chilean project that’s very straightforward in its premise; bringing music together through the poetics of the mashup format. Good remixes are all about transition, but mashups are much trickier, they’re what sonic disobedience is all about. Tecla de Oro’s “Carnavalito" is a confrontation between the popular South American dance and Reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel shouting “Coje lo que tuyo!” from their hit “Rakata.” This is the outcome of Baltazar’s preoccupation to break social walls through music. The song’s commentary on music ownership, its time-frame collision and steady form make it a highly enjoyable jam. Tecla de Oro’s debut Violentamente Lento EP will be out in a few weeks, expect plenty of tribal house, tribalstep and dance jams.
